When not teaching or writing, John J. Fulford has traveled the world as an adventurer. He began by hitchhiking around south and central Africa while in the RAF, captured in his book, Hitchhiking to Serendip. On his honeymoon with his new bride, they backpacked through every country in Latin and South America. Afterwards, he stayed in Bolivia and wrote Last Plane to Cochabamba. His most recent book, To Reach the Sea, is a history of Bolivia.
